The Animas River runs through town offering class 1 – 3 whitewater adventure and Gold Medal fishing waters. With so much to offer, Durango is often referred to as “the Mecca of outdoor recreation”
Winter Recreation
Durango area ski resorts boast an average of 260 inches of snowfall and more than 300 days of sunshine every year. Rugged snow-capped peaks and groomed runs make for a perfect ski or snowboard vacation, and hundreds of miles of trails and backcountry roads are ideal for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and other winter pursuits.
